Next fall I am planning on studying abroad in the Netherlands. The program I am in gives us three day weekends every week so we can travel. Sweden is a country I might potentially visit; however, I know nothing about it besides the name of the capital!
I essentially would like to know what are the pros and cons of Stockholm, and what are some cheap/free attractions there since I will be on a VERY tight budget. Also, is Stockholm a city that can be well-appreciated in one weekend, more two days than three given travel time?
If anyone has any suggestions about Stockholm, or about another Swedish city I don't know of, I would love to hear them!

Reply to this Stockholm is a very nice city, but the weather may not be the best during fall. Try to go as early as possible, September if possible. November is usually very rainy and cold. December is nicer as all the Christmas decorations are brightening it up. There are lots of things to see just walking around the city, the Old Town, Djurgarden, and many neighborhoods. There are also many museums but they charge entrance fee. A weekend in Stockholm is perfect, the center is quite small so you can get around by foot easily. There are many nice towns and cities in Sweden, if you are traveling by plane you could think of Gothenburg and Uppsala. Malmo is just across from Copenhagen but also has its own airport. Sleeping will be expensive in any case, even if you stay in a youth hostel. Also be aware that the cost of getting from the airports to the city center can be quite expensive and cumbersome.
