Cheap Must-Sees of Croatia and Eastern Europe

I have about a week I'd like to spend in Eastern Europe. Suggestions of what I have to see? Specifically, what I should see in Croatia?

I plan on taking a ferry from Venice to Croatia, and then thought I'd spend some time in Croatia + Slovenia/Hungary if time allows.

Does anyone have suggestions about visiting Croatia on the cheap? It seems like a great place, but I have no idea where I should go. Am 24 and am looking for more adventure/activity/ than just beaches.

Apparently there are some ferry island-hopping trips. Has anyone done this?

Also, do you think a week would be enough time to see Croatia and something else? What are some of the other must-sees of Eastern Europe?
