AFEL BOUCOM
Great video of a great Malian guitarist...member of Ali Farke Toure's band for 30 years...since the age of 13...both lived in Niafunke...mud city of 100,000 on the Niger.
Ali hailed Afel as his successor...bought his "Afel Boucom & Alkibar" CD called "Tabital Pulaaku" in Bamako...my first CD purchase in Mali!
Then I got his first CD "Alkibar"...which became the name of his band after that.
Here is AFEL BOUCOM'S story...even a rap from Ali Farke Toure himself
"ALKIBAR"

ALI FARKE TOURE & TOUMANI DIABATE
Grammy Award Winners with their "In the Heart of the Moon" CD
But my favourite is their second CD..."Ali & Toumani"...just before Ali died
A Bobo song...Ali on guitar...Toumani on kora (African gourd harp)
The exquisitively beautiful..."RUBY"
