I would like to know what I need to declare upon entry.

Okay, so it's stupid question time. It'll be my first trip to Sweden and I'll be flying from Heathrow to Kiruna with a stop in Stockholm (Arlanda Airport). I'm hoping people will be able to answer a few questions I have, mainly regarding customs:

1) I'll be hiking and bringing food with me. Now I know that the food is allowed into Sweden but will I have to declare it?

2) I'll also have a penknife with me, is this classed as a dangerous article? Do I need to declare it? Will it be confiscated?... Does the fact that I'll be hiking and have that type of gear with me change anything.

3) Will I be able to get from terminal 5 at Arlanda to terminal 4 for my connecting flight in 45 minutes?

Thanks for any replies. Reply to this

I go to Sweden fairly often and I don't think you need to declare any of this. The penknife will only be a problem for the flight you need to put it in your checked luggage, sports equipment is obviously OK to bring. Food is no problem as long as you come from the UK, but I am not sure they even care much if you come from another continent. The customs search for liquor, drugs and cigarettes (check out the limits for liquor and cigarettes, if you plan to bring any big amounts). Sweden has a strict drug policy so don't even think of bringing any. If you are a single male they will be more prone to search your luggage, but it is no big deal. But, because you are coming from another EU country they won't be much interested.
The terminals are very close by, in the same building, I don't think you need more than 10-15 minutes, it is faster to walk outside the building. Reply to this

Hello James 😊

1. I dont think there is any need to declare food when entering Europe. I never do. You can take it on flights if it is not liquid too.

2.I also take a pen knife with me of then when I travel. No need to declare it at customs when entering a European airport. I never do. You will have to put it in your checked in luggage though.

3. I have never flown into Stockholm airport, so dont know, but the airport likely has a website with information like that on it.

PS. I forgot to say, put tinned food and food in jars in your check in luggage. I have had those conficated from me a few times, at the airport security that you go through after checking in. I dont think you need declare these things to the customs though. 😊 Reply to this
