I hate myself for admitting this publicly lol after bagging out skypers on beaches but I had to buy an IPAD and a Kindle..

I was dead against the idea of travelling with gadgets but it seems I need a gadget. It appears the Internet Kafe is becoming a thing of the past with every McDonalds and KFC offering free wifi..so what apps can you all recommend for me?

I have flight trackers, currency converters etc...just the basic need to know stuff like..oh was that an earthquake?

What are your favourite apps and why? Reply to this

You'll need plenty on your favorite magazines on the beach or by the pool so download the free Zinio app and subscribe away! Reply to this

Well, I was against traveling with gadgets as well, but a few months ago, I started buying different travel guides for my devices and I am loving it!! It is really helpful walking around without getting lost and reading interesting staff!
There are plenty of them in the market, I personally recommend the ones from www.etips.com they come with audio and augmented reality.

We've been taking an ipad with us and i'm normally against them too...or even checking emails etc 😊 but....it is really really handy! So easy to carry and since everyone has free wifi these days so good to see what is happenning in the world.

I would sign up to Amazon and then you get ebooks to read on the ipad kindle app. Similar to John, you can download all sorts of travel guides and book s (some for free or 99c) and it is great to get all the different info on where you are or what you are doing.

And we do have the tripadvisor app (dont boo people lol)...it is handy to find restaraunts or 'things to do' near to where you are or where you are heading. I guess the internet is just as similar but its layout on the app is really good and easier than having to safari things. Reply to this

Oh me!
I remember the days when the app was you talked to the person who had just come from where you were going and sorted out where was good to stay and who ripped you off. I don't deny that travel info has improved but it doesn't seem quite so adventurous today.

I use LP and the other guides but sometimes I think we are playing "following the leader" and are missing out on personal discovery. I guess I'm just a grumpy old man!
