I generally get the tickets first, so I can avail of bargains by buying early. It does however cause the risk that my visa application would be turned down, and that would cause it not to have been a bargain at all.
I have not yet ever had a visa application turned down, so I still think it is worth risking buying the ticket first. It does make me nervous everytime though, while I am waiting for the visa.

Reply to this Ticket first. I get nervous too about the visa getting turned down. Not happened yet. I think all travelers have a bit of risk taker in them. 😊
Reply to this Some countries require proof of an onward ticket with the visa application, so sometimes you don't have a choice!
Generally speaking though we book our flights first before applying for a visa, we are the same as you Mel, we have never had a visa application turned down.

Reply to this oh very odd the repeat thing above!
i am definitly a ticket first person as i go after sales too...plus i think you need to know when you are going which might be determined by the sales/tickets on offer. I cant see why anyone would deny me a visa apart from 'australia' being added to a list of some sort so not really stressed about that 😊
