Honest, constructed feedback required for my blog.

The blog which I am posting at the moment and is currently "blogger of the week" (which I am very honoured to have) is the travel diary of a Victorian Gentleman which details his round the world trip in 1878/79. I am thinking about having it published (as a book) and as I am amongst "fellow" experienced travellers, I thought that I would take the opportunity to ask if there would be a few people who would mind reading the diary in full (or nearly in full as it is over 80,000 words!) and then to give me some honest feedback on whether there would be enough to sustain interest.

When the diary was first found 30 years ago, a publisher was approached but they said that there wasn't enough to keep the momentum, but the world is a very different place now so I thought that I would try again but with a target focus group giving me some feedback first.

The background to the diary is given in the most recent blog and the trip started 14 months ago on the 18th April. The blog notes and pictures have been added by me in effort to make it a bit more interesting and to keep the diary in context. My idea for the book would be to include these and use more pictures but I can only use ones that I don't need permission for at the moment.

Give me your thoughts and suggestions. Anything you like or don't like. Please be honest as I have no idea if it would be of any interest to other people as this is the first time that it has been read outside of the family (apart from the aforementioned publisher) probably since it was written.

Thank you very much

My boyfriend is in the process of reading all your blogs, and has promised to post his opinion here, when he finishes. He loves them, from the point of view of somebody who is interested in history. He isn't as interested in travel as I am, but he still finds Rogers blogs fascinating. He says, he loves the way you provide extra information with the blogs. 😊

For sure, it is not written in the action packed style of a best selling travel novel, but I think it is still of interest to a select group. Have you considered showing it to independent publishers? Reply to this

Thanks very much Mell - I will be really interested to hear what he thinks. Am considering which publishers at the moment but it is not quite finished yet so when I am done, I will give them a go.

With other commitments I do not have time to read all of them now but am willing to commit to reading a smaller number of them if that would be of any help to you.

In response to: Msg #138925 That would be wonderful - anything would help, but if I could ask that you read a section of the entries (say 1 month if that would be alright) so that you get the good with the bad. Thank you VERY much! Reply to this
