Congratulations everyone - welcome to the TravelBlog Hall of Fame - this award is the most prestigious on the site recognizing both quality and long term commitment.

To anyone who is visiting travelblog for the first time - read these blogs - this is what the site is all about!

I'm sure we've missed a few fantastic blogs this time around - we did last year - and I'm sure we will again next year. There are approaching 200,000 accounts on travelblog now, so it's inevitable - so bookmark the great blogs that we've missed and let us know about them next year for the 10 year anniversary, and in the meantime recommend or follow them.

having blogging for almost 5 years it means much to be appreciated by more then just F&F.
travelblog is a great site that enhances our travel experience. in 5 years it has improved and we can wait to get back on the road and write some more

Thanks to everyone who has read our blogs and enjoyed them and thank you so much for the nominations.

It was originally intended as a mechanism just to tell our family and friends we were safe, well and enjoying our adopted home in Australia, but it never really worked that way, through our blog we have met and enjoyed the company of other great travelers.

In the next few days we will have made 90,000 hits and heading towards a million words.

During our time on the road we found the messages we received an inspiration to keep going, sometimes it was tough going, our travels renewed our faith in human kindness there is a kindred spirit out there.

For a year and a bit we managed to write every day, but now due to a work commitments we have slowed down, everyday is still an adventure in a still new environment.

The blogging thing was new to us when we set out and it has become a way of life, we love travel blog, we still get messages from way back asking about us and tomorrow, we are dining with a family we met 2 years ago on the border of South Australia and Victoria.

Well done to everyone who has been nominated this year, some of the blogs we read are just amazing, the photography and detail is stupendous.

Well better finish as it is beginning to look like an Oscars's acceptance speech ;-)

Just one more thing - thanks Jo and Ali and everyone at Travelblog for your support..... we cannot do this without you guys!

Wow! We really feel honoured to be included in this list. It's such a great site and we loved blogging our adventures. We couldn't believe people other than our friends and family would really be interested in what we were up to!

The time has flown since we've got back from our big trip (almost 2 years ago) and jobs/house moves and some serious illness for Mark have prevented us from doing much in the way of travel since then.

Happily we have just started our next big adventure in the way of parenthood - we welcomed the gorgeous Clara Louise into our lives on April 29th this year and are excited to start a whole new life journey with her, with our actual travels being a little closer to home for a while! I'll try and post some pics for everyone to see our beautiful daughter.
