Patagonia Travel Question

I will be travelling in Patagonia in late February and most of March. The travel books mention the need to book ahead during the months of January and February because of the high numbers of travellers.

Is it possible to travel from one major destination to another in Patagonia without advance reservations and still find accommodations as well as bus transportation? Reply to this

Hi Jim, iam Patricio, i live in Argentina also travelled to Patagonia and i work in tourismn.
You know, high season is between the months of November and March, during march there are less traslvellers than in Decvember or January (the peak of higg season).
i would recommend you to reserve flights in advanced and accommodation depends on what type do you prefer.

any other doubt let mi know

regards

patricio!

Hey Jim!

March is an amazing time to visit Patagonia! The fall colors are out in force!!! I backpack constantly through the aspens in the Rockies and have never seen such vibrant reds and oranges as in Patagonia.

I don't think you'll need advanced reservations for anything other than flights--especially if you stay off-the-beaten-path (i.e. the Carretera Austral). Although, if you are picky at what you want for accommodations, you might want to reserve ahead. If you'll take what you can get in the touisty areas, no problem.

Have fun! I'm jealous!

PS - Take a look at my blog posts for nearly 3 months of treks and rough travels through Patagonia. Let me know if you need any advise.
