Traveling and cruise in July with two others. Would prefer not to use ship excursions. Has anyone used train (or?) from Civitavecchia to Rome? traveled from Livorno to Pisa? traveled from Naples to Pompeii?
Reply to this Hi Naples to Pompeii takes something like 30 min with the suburban train Circumvesuviana. It is not a great journey, going through some fairly run down suburbs but it is perfectly safe and gets you right to the entrance of Pompeii. Don't know about the others.
