On the front page there are links for a few types of blogs.
Our front page has a few types of blogs and forum posts listed in tabs.
Featured Blogs
These blogs are from the most recommended members of our site, have at least a couple of hundred words and some photos. We aim to restrict this number so that over the period of a day the list completely changes, but the aim is to promote the highest quality blogs.
Most Recent Blogs
The latest public blogs, simply that. Should change regularly throughout the day.
Panoramic Blogs
Blogs which feature a panoramic photo. Some really stunning photos are added as panoramas and here we showcase them.
Blogger of the Week
We try to promote some of the lesser known, newer members of the site by giving them a "blogger of the week" award. This tab shows the latest blogs from just the winners of this award.
Forum Highlights
Forum topics/threads selected by our moderators, usually one added a day.
Hottest
The topics with most responses. (will change to recent responses soon!)
Newest
The newest topics. (might change if spam starts to feature heavily)
Any feedback is appreciated, as with ideas for potential tabs - space is limited to roughly what we have currently - but any better ideas?
Reply to this for the "Featured Blogs" --> is there a new rule to the number of recommendations one has, in order to be featured in it? It used to be at least 3?
Reply to this Yes - the minimum of recommendations is currently 3 - we may push this up to 4 sometime.

Is there an RSS/Atom feed for highlights of the Forum?
I'd like to keep track without having to return to the front page.

Reply to this if you quite publish does your blog still appear on the front page - featured blogs?
Reply to this Hi Sally & Nick,
Yes, it would. The only difference with 'Quiet publish' is that the email notifications aren't sent to subscribers.

too few pics don't get frontpaged? if you cull blogs for not enough pics, you might want to consider cutting the blogs that have too many. a picture is worth a thousand words and all that, but if a blog has 70 pictures, you can do the math - it's war & peace. if you ask me (and I am aware that you did not), none or one or two photos is more desirable than someone's entire photo roll. that said, i am more impressed with well-crafted words than modern photography's ability to make everyone a relatively decent photographer.

Hi Lump,
The reason for the minimum four photos for the front page is that the initial four photos are displayed on the front page for each blog intro. If none, or only one or two were showing it would make the front page inconsistent and less attractive.
Reply to this Hi Lump,
Some of the bloggers are on the road for many months, years and they include a large number of photos because their families want to share in the experience. The good thing is once you reach a certain number of photos it goes to a 2nd and 3rd page. You don't have to take the time to look at all of them.
Happy travels.
