Panoramic Photos

Is there any way we can rate these?

Some of the Panoramic pictures are the best on travel blog, can we rate them and have a gallary as with "Travel Photos" but purely for panormas? Reply to this

This is a great idea... I've been blown away by some of the panoramas on some of the blogs... I think it's the way they're displayed as when they're used within the blog they don't seem to have the same impact... In my opinion anyway.... Reply to this

They are indeed often stunning especially, as Michael and Faye said, because of their display size.

I want to use them when I start blogging again in Aug but I'm not sure how it works. I know there is an upload panorama button but not sure how it works. Do I have to create a panorama image with say autoprana, and if so, do I have to make it a specific size? ie. 4 by 2 or something. Or does the upload button just crop a normal image? Also, does this automatically place it as a banner at the top of the page, as I've seen some located within a blog like a normal photo?

Sorry to diverge from topic a little but this has been puzzling me for a while! Reply to this

I was confused at first and it's been a while since I've blogged so can't remember exactly.....

Just checked my backups and the photos I used were 2800x700... not sure if that's the resolution they have to be or just the aspect required... you have to upload it using the panorama button, you can only upload one and it puts it at the top of the blog. If you upload a panorama the usual way it'll displays just like any other photo within the blog.

Also it's worth noting that they don't have to be panoramas... I think most of mine are just crops from the much larger images at the correct aspect ratio then resized to 2800x700.

Hope someone can come along and give more definitive guidlines soon...

Unfortunately, the panorama photos cant be rated. I will pass on the suggestion though. Maybe a rating system can be made for those photos. 😊

Uploading panaramas: They have to be made into the right size, before uploading, then you can use the panarama uploader to upload them. Remember to put a tick in the box on the corner of the panarama photo, when you are doing it. The size I was able to upload at a couple of weeks ago is 4999 by 700.

Thanks guys, that seems easy enough.

I'm sure all will become clear when, sat in a dingy internet cafe in india, I give it my first try!

You could alway so do what I did and retrospectively add panoramas to the blogs you've already written... Give them that little bit of extra pizazz and get you used to the process... 😊 Reply to this

That, my friend, is a great idea!

So, I can edit my blog without having to re-publish? Reply to this

Yes, just edit it and resave. No need to publish again. 😊 Reply to this

By the way, for anyone who cares: I just made a panorama using 12 photos of mountains from across the Cook Inlet in Alaska which will be in my next blog. It was created in Photoshop CS5 and it did all the work automatically. very easy to use!!

Just an FYI!

Thanks all!

I use a tool called Kola Autopano pro, seemless stitching!

Have uploaded panoramas to my blogs now, worked really well as soon as I could figure the correct dimensions! Reply to this

Did anything ever come of the option to rate panoramic photos? Reply to this

No, not yet at least Muno. Mostly due to how busy those who make these decisions are. There are only 2 of them, and we keep them busy with always adding more to their 'to fix' list. 😊 Reply to this

not to worry - it is a "nice to have" as opposed to a "necessity"
