Wanting to go to Iran
B Posts: 24.6K
Hello Dani
When I had a week to spend in Iran, I spent all of it in Esfahan. I was trying to decide where to go in Iran, when I read that Esfahan is known as the jewel of the Middle East. I thought, a place know as the jewel of the Middle East has to be nice, so when I flew into Tehran, I took a taxi straight to the bus station and took the next bus to Esfahan.
It is lovely there. Some say it is the highlight of Iran. I can't comment about the rest of Iran, because appart from the views of Tehran from the taxi window, and the desert views from the bus window, I don't know what any part of Iran besides Esfahan looks like.
Also, there is a hostel in Esfahan. This doesnt mean you have to sleep in a dorm room. The single and double rooms are also very inexpensive. Hostels in Iran, where they are available are problaby the safest places to stay, because they are used to foreigners, and you would not be the only foreigner there.
An important thing for all travellers to Iran to know is to take cash. I dont think there is anywhere at all in Iran to get money in any other way. You cant use credit cards, cash machines, travellers cheques...
Here is a photo of me in the hostel in Esfahan. The blog I wrote about Esfahan is attached to it.

Hi Danielle,
Iv see your post right now, and i guess now you've visited Iran and your travel is finished. But there are many beautiful places in Iran that a foreign traveler should see, especially those who visit Iran for the first time.
Shiraz, Tehran, Kerman, Kashan, Abyaneh and .....
Each of them has their own attractions and one can not say by visiting a city of a country like Iran, has finished that country!
Good Luck
