What is the strangest reason you have heard of, which prevented a flight from taking off?

we were once on a flight that was delayed for 4h because some couple had been wrongly checked-in and should not have been on this flight. How was that even possible that somebody checked them in, gave them birding passes and only hours later realized they were not supposed to be there?

the elderly couple didn't have a clue what was going on but by the time they took them out of the plane and retrieved their luggage we lost our spot and had to wait many hours....

the worst reason we heard for airport delays/cancellations was a herd of deers on the airport tarmac....I thought all airports were fenced? haha Reply to this

I was sat on a grounded plane once at the airport for 3 long hours until the pilot turned around and said over the PA system that the plane wasn't working properly but will probably be alright now! Can't say that it left one with the utmost of confidence for the flight duration! Reply to this

I was once stuck in the Canadian Arctic because the doors to the aircraft hangar wouldn't open and the employees couldn't get the plane out. After several hours of battling with the doors the plane was out, however, the pilots had now worked their shift and couldn't fly. Reply to this

My flight from Cusco to Lima, Peru in April 2018, was delayed by over 2 hours as the printer had failed and the airline crew had to hand write all the boarding passes! Reply to this
