We’re selling our van... it will be available in the Auckland area from the beginning of April 2010. It will come ready to go
We bought the van in April 2009 as an 8-seater passenger van and modified it to suit two travellers looking for a van to call home. The 6 back seats were replaced with a retractable double bed and a lot of kit was purchased (all the necessary cooking and sleeping stuff and then some..). So this is not a backpacker van that has travelled around New Zealand a hundred times already it has only been around the one time with us. The van has been very reliable during the past 12 months with no problems encountered.

1995 Ford Spectron (same as the Mazda Bongo)
220 000 km
4X4 Turbo diesel 2L engine (average fuel consumption: 8L/100 km)
Manuel gear box
Power steering
Central locking
Electric windows
Air conditioning
WOF due 26/07 (warrant of fitness all vehicles in NZ need one)
Registration due 01/06 (road tax)

Points worth noting:
Serviced engine (Feb 2010) and in perfect working condition
New front tyres (Jan 2010) and front windscreen (Mar 2010)
Diesel engine: longer lasting and more economical than a petrol one (diesel is about NZD 0.5/L cheaper than petrol in NZ)
4X4: a must-have in NZ with many areas inaccessible with a 2 wheel drive (essential for finding that private camping location!)
The exterior of the van is in good condition with no rust
The gear box and cam belt have been recently changed
Brake pads and rear tyres in good condition
