Hey Everybody!!

I'm pretty new here, but I'm excited to be a part!

This summer I am going to be studying in Russia, and want to take the Trans-Mongolian Railway from Moscow-Beijing before I head back to the States. I have looked at a LOT of Trans-Siberian websites, and they all say different things. Basically, I am looking for the cheapest way to take the train from Moscow-Beijing. Has anyone done this before? So I guess I'm asking:

1. Is it ok to buy Trans-Mongolian tickets in Russia? Or is it better to go through a travel agency in the US?

2. What is a good price for Trans-Mongolian tickets in August?

3. How far in advance should tickets be purchased?
