Has anyone travelled through Syria or Jordan since the Israeli Lebanese conflict?

My friend and I are travelling overland from Egypt to Turkey this September. We are slightly concerned by the current situation, namely regarding accomidation, and transport issues. I have read that Damascus and Amman are becoming flooded with refugees and that the Syrian/Turkish border is overcrowded. Is this true? Can anyone in the area right now tell me what the situation is for budget (and I mean Really budget like £10 per day for EVERYTHING) travellers

Dont worry about a thing. Its all sweet as. Just spent a month doing a similar trip and no worries at all. Actually biked through Syria and the people are unbelievably friendly and accomodating. As are people in Jordan and Egypt. Reply to this
