Hi there,

Does anyone know how to go from Lima to Cusco, ie: how much for flight; bus or train?

How long does it take? How safe, etc.

Please let me know as much as you can, thanks a lot.

Cheers

Hi Kin,

I've flown from Lima to Cusco - check LAN airways.

Sleeping at Lima airport if you ariive late and fly to Cusco early the next morning, is quite safe, quite a few people do it. Reply to this

Hi Jo,

Thanks for your advise, I've heard that Lan charges more on the English site than the Spanish one, and if you are not Peruvian and buy ticket from from the Spanish site, they will charge you extra when you board the flight, is it true? Have you heard anything like that? Thanks

Charging extra when boarding the flight sounds strange. When I get a chance I'll check both sites and compare.

Around what dates/times are you looking at flying, and is it just one way? Reply to this

Hi Jo,

I'm looking at 23rd January 2010, either one way or return on 3rd February 2010, depends on which is cheaper. Thanks

I checked the Peru link and the US (English) one.

The US ones were $200 each way, no change searching as a return flight. 'Flexible' category.

The Peru site had an extra category on the one way option for $110 called 'Base Plus' - the main difference between the two seemed to be that 'Base Plus' is non-refundable.

Searching as a return flight the Peru site had a third option for $41 - 'Base'

The Peru site had a note saying the 'Base' fares are only for residents in Peru, and if you can't produce a Peruvian residency card you will get charged an extra $178 - must have been the part you had heard about.

whoaaaa i can't believe this! $178 if i book from outside peru?!! NUTS! is lan the only airline in peru? are there any travel websites like priceline.com expedia.com... etc as we do in USA to compare various flights?

I need lima->Cusco and Lima->Iquitos return....seems like this will be a costly venture! Reply to this

I only looked directly on lan.com so far - definitely worth checking a flight search engine.

Let us know if you find any better fares. Reply to this

I booked on the 25th Jan, hopefully they don't have the Lan's local extra charge thing. Reply to this
