Travelling from Hong Kong to Thailand: Flight or make own way?

Samwel7
Travelling next year (April 2010) and making Hong Kong our starting point. Probably spend no more than a week in Hong Kong before heading towards Thailand.

Does anyone have any advice on travelling from Hong Kong to Thailand without flying? How difficult is it? Is it recommended?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers

Not difficult. One option would be train or bus from Hong Kong into Vietnam to Hanoi. Then, either south to Hue and over the border into Thailand. Or overland to Vientiene in Laos and over the border into Thailand.

Every option will need a Chinese visa and either a Laos visa, a Vietnamese visa or both. There are some cool places to see along the way.
