Can any recommend a guest house in the old quarter of Hanoi? Also any guest houses on the road to Sapa and once in Sapa? Thanks in advance. We know some nice ones for about $20 US a night if that's ok. The Ritz is quite a popular one among people I know here. It has a website, you can google it. We have also stayed in the Lucky hotel 2 and the Viet Anh 2 on Ngo Huyen Street. They have the advantage of having Hanoi Backpackers hostel bar in the same street, which is good for some people watching. | When we went to Sapa we just took guesthouse advice from a tout. It was a nice place overlooking the square, but I haven't a clue what it was called. There are loads and loads of guesthouses there, so I would suggest that you just look around when you arrive in Sapa. We would pay say $15 to $20 USD, | amiehanoi amiehanoi Post Count: 11 Msg: #4 9 weeks ago, October 28th 2009 | Hi, | I know some guesthouses in Hanoi which offer good rate ( 10$ - 15$ - 20$). That could be Manh Dung guest house in Tam Thuong street, you can have rate of 10$ to 15$ included Breakfast. Other wise, you can google Holiday hotel in Ngo Huyen street. In this small street, there are many guesthouses and mini hotels. When you look at their websites, the rate might be higher than reality. The best way is to come and check and then bargain for the one you prefer. In sapa I think you can check Hoang Ha, Lotus out. These hotels offer good price of 15$ or less. It depends on what date you arrive. The most important thing you should know is that April is the Reunification Day of the Country and then1st of May. So traditionally it becomes the Vietnamese Holiday. From the beginning of April, all hotels, transports and tickets will be getting very busy and the prices are higher. Especially, Sapa is one of the most busiest places to be at this time if you come at the end of April. Try to avoid the dates from 25th April to 2rd of May because the hotels and other tourist services are so pricey. The reason is that Sapa is one of the best retreat of local people who want to look for the cool and peaceful atmosphere. And other places along your biking trip are quite cheap. In Lai Chau, you can accommodate in Tam Duong guesthouse ( about 10$ -15$). Also, cheap hotels could be found easily.
