Could anyone recommend a cheap Chinese Airline? Or can we get a train on this date by using an agent to buy our tickets 20 days early? | Im hoping that they wont sell out so please help asap! You can only buy train tickets a few days in advance in China. Even if you use an agent they can only get the tickets a few days in advance. 18th of February is close to the Chinese New Year when people travel a lot so tickets may be hard to come by. For fligths there are a number of agencies that can get you e-tickets. The prices seem to be the same for all airlines, and I don't think cheap airlines exist in China. If you book well in advance there is usually a discount. If you have access to a Chinese credit card you can also book directly at the airlines, but they don't take international cards. I have used the agency China Highlights and it has worked perfectly, but there are others as well, just do a websearch and you will find them. If you are in the cabins at each end of the carriage, you could notice it. | Trains tickets only go on sale about two weeks in advance and can only be purchased in Kunming itself. You can purchase through a ticket agent, but they will charge you a hefty premium. As for flying, I used Ctrip, and found it to be a good website that does accept foreign credit/debit cards. As for airlines, Air China is fine, so is Chinese Eastern - these were two my Chinese friends recommended me to fly when I was there. I believe that Hainan airlines are also good - they are privately owned, but I haven't had their quality confirmed by anyone who has used them. hehe hehe Post Count: 8 Msg: #4 23 days ago, October 29th 2009 | Train ticket information for you: | K472 (10:32--10:48, 48h)harder sleeper ~550¥, softer sleeper ~852¥ T62 (20:43--11:08, 38h)harder sleeper ~550¥, softer sleeper ~852¥ Plane ticket: >=1700¥ Due to Chinese New Year, so no discount.
