Looking for travel buddy for South America from around 15th Dec 2009

Hi,

I'm 30, female and fancy a bit of a change. I've been working for Children's Services in the UK but have handed in my notice and am off to see more of the world. I have travelled quite a lot already but this is the first time I have travelled to a non-english speaking country completely by myself (last time was either with a friend or part of a tour group). I'm planning on spending a couple of weeks snow boarding in Canada and then am off to Mexico around the 15th Dec and plan to travel down through South America, with no set plans or time scehdule. I'm looking to see if there is anyone who'll be in Mexico around this time who might like to travel together for a bit or even just meet so I can get some tips...

Happy Travelling

Hey Monica

Me and a friend are currently taking a gap year before uni.

We will be in Costa Rica from the 15th. Going from Panama to Colounbia, down to Bolivia and take it from there really and end up in Brazil.

How deep where you thinking of going into South America and how long were you spending travelling?

If you are in any areas at the same time it would be great to see a fellow backpacker. 😊

Hey Matt

I haven't really made any plans yet. Not sure of how much of central america I'm planning to see, but would like to see some of Mexico. I need to look more at the map but would like to do venezuela, equador (bit to scared to do columbia alone), bolivia, chilie, argentina and brazil. Not sure I can do all of this as it may not be practical/too expensive etc... I'm probably planning to go for about 5 months, longer if my money allows. I'm also thinking of doing some wwoofing while I'm out there. How long are you planning on going for?

We are planning on skipping Mexico, mainly because of funds and we didnt really find much to go and see in Mexico in comparison to the rest of SA, plus swine flu haha.

Yeah we are basicly doing a 4 weeks in a turtle conservation project near San Jose Costa Rica. Then gonna go out to the Darien Gap into Columbia, however we are looking to get out of Colombia as soon as, it's clearly not safe. It's the same with us, our funds will dictate how long we spend out there and what we get up to, but we have given ourselves 6 months out there if all goes to plan.

Machu Picchu/Incan trials, Lake Titicaca, La Paz and Salar de Uynani are some key parts of our journey. Other than that its basicly finding our way to Rio, then gonna finish off the trip there on the beaches :P.

We are set to fly out at the 15th of Febuary, when do you plan on leaving?

Hey Monica,

I am a 32 years old, female and could meet you somewhere in South America if you have any specific travel dates. I love to travel but have not travelled on my own. I have been to quite a few countries but with friends and cousins. I am laid back and try to just go with the flow. Have been to Panama, Costa Rica and Mexico so if you are planning on being anywhere specific in South or Central America I would love to have a travel comapanion for a week or so. Reply to this

Hi,

I am flying to Miami on the 8th dec to then fly to Colombia on the 12th Dec. I do have a travel buddy now, a friend from work, but you are welcome to join up with us at any point. Also she may be doing some things without me in Peru which again you are welcome to join either of us for but that probably won't be until end of Jan. Where abouts will you be and when?

Hi Monica,
My husband (venezuelan) and I (spanish) are making a 15 day-trip in the east part of Venezuela with our van. We already have 4 people joining. We will visit the Mochima National Park, Paria Peninsula, Angel Falls at Canaima National Park and Margarita Island.
The trip starts on the 26th December. If you think it could be interesting for you i could give you all the details.

Hi Judith,

Thank you soo much for the offer. It sounds like an amazing trip. Unfortunately I won't be able to join you due to the additional cost of getting from Colombia to Venezuela and back to Colombia again. I'm genuinely gutted but hope you have an amazing trip!!
Best wishes

Monica -

I am going to be doing some WWOOFing in Chile and Argentina as well, first I will be in Peru from about Feb18th - 28th (no real set dates) I am planing on going to do some trekking in Huaraz and then headed up the amazon river to Iquitos and back to lima then towards Chile.

I am 25 and also traveling solo for this first part of the trip then hopefully meeting up with a friend in Chile or Argentina at a WWOOF farm. Let me know if you would like to meet up along the road somewhere! It would be great to get some solo girls together for some adventure.

Hi, will be in Guatemala, from April for a month or two volunteering and taking spanish lessons, then heading south west, end game Argentina, no real time limit, but keen on seeing sites, culture and learning spanish.

Drop me a line if you're passing through
