Never been to India before and will be going solo. Also very interested in visiting Sri Lanka, and cannot find much posted about the country. Lonely Planet says trains are an absolute NO for a solo western woman. Anyone visited recently who can confirm/deny this? | Looking to keep things at budget to midrange level on the accommodation front. Anyone planning a similar trip or have tips to share? Now i am certainly not a female crony but I hope i can help you with travel plans and tips in India.... Sri Lanka is a nice place too...but you get to see so much in India especially in Mumbai,Goa,Kerala and south india that i doubt you will be more interested in Sri Lanka....am not sure of the after-war conditions of sri lanka for now...
