Hi,
Can you anyone tell me the added taxes, when booking a 5 continent RTW ticket with ONeWorld. It's £1,718 (stg) right now, but that excludes taxes/charges
anyone able to help?
thanks. Reply to this

Hello Sinead
When I am buying tickets online, I find out what they cost including the taxes by pretending I am going to buy the ticket, then I cancel it before giving my credit card number and after I get the full cost.

Hi Sinead,
It's all depend of the number of flights you are doing. Long haul cost more than short haul due to fuel surcharge. Airlines in the USA seems to have less outrageous charges than other for fuel.
On average, add easily 75 pounds per sector on long haul for fuel, and half of this per short haul.
For airport taxes amd other charges, some airport are way more expensive than others...Heathrow is seriously expensive, but if you plan on an average of 25pounds per sector, you should get an idea.
Round-the-world tickets today with alliances are limited to 16 sectors because of the computer system. Paper tickets used to have a max of 20 sectors.
So if you do the 5 continents, you have on average maximum 5 long hauls, and 11 short hauls...my bet is you should than add a total of bewteen 1000 pounds and 1200 pounds for your ticket.
To give you an example, I just redeemed a serious amount of miles for two crazy tickets, each ticket has 9 sectors on oneworld...and few countries on the list...and taxes/surcharges did cost me 375 pounds! Yes, they call it a "free" ticket!
Hope this help,
