Keep in mind that Christmas and New Years holidays are the busiest time of the year for hotel bookings. You might be lucky and find a place with a room available. Don't be surprised if the price of your room or bunk is higher for New Years Eve. Some hotels may have a mandatory New Years Eve party fee if you attend the party or not. | Most of the people who stay in the Khao San Road area tend to be young, so if you don't mind humping a bag for a few hours then go ahead and try to get a room at the busiest time of year! You might get lucky. Sukhumvit Road also has some low priced hotel rooms and the world famous Suk 11 Hostel. Easy access to the Skytrain from the Sukhumvit Road area - no access from the KSR! If you need a hotel/hostel recommendation mention you price range (use a baht figure) per night. Perhaps someone can recommend a place that has vacancies. If you have some suggestions in your price range you can even use the telephone from the airport to check on vacancies and ask the hotel to hold a room for you. Here is a link for a hotel chain in the KSR area and a second link for a hostel off of Sukhumvit Road. http://www.sawasdee-hotels.com/index.html http://www.suk11.com/2008/index.html Other info on hotels: http://www.khaosanroad.com/ http://www.thaiwebsites.com/hotels-sukhumvit-bangkok.asp Good luck. It is down a laneway on the right that you have to look for. Almost next door is another guest house called the Shanti Lodge that is also good. I would phone from the airport to secure a room...they don't take reservations in advance. These are a good location as they are quiet (on a side street), serve great food, and only a few blocks from the Chao Praya River, where you can catch a boat-bus down the river to sightseeing places like the Grand Palace and Wat Po, shopping, or just enjoying the sites from the river vantage point. If you would like the phone number or address of these guesthouses, message me and I'll look through my travel stuff to find more info for you. They are about 600 baht for an Air/Con room or 400 baht for a fan room. | Happy travels. Number of Users: 3 | Number of Posts: 3 | |||||||||||
