Tips on Driving US to Costa Rica
My boyfriend and I are hoping to drive to Costa Rica (starting from Texas) in October. Any and all tips would help!

If anyone has made this or a similar trip, I would love some tips-- from what route you think is best/what route to avoid to what sites not to miss to safety issues... everything. My parents are, needless to say, a bit freaked out by the whole idea, and I'd love to be able to reassure them...or at least let them know I've done some research.
Thanks in advance for you help!

Aloha, Tom... I've been trying to find you or your email address, etc. I'm hoping to visit Costa Rica in Dec. 2008 or Jan. and would love to see you. I'll be scouting it out to see if I'd like to live there part-time. Hope all is going beautifully for you there.

Dear Ryan,
wow..., I have not traveled from Texas to Costa Rica yet. Costa Rica can be easily travelled with a car. Many roads in Costa Rica are paved and are in very good condition, but there are also gravel and dirt roads for which I recommend an off-road vehicle. This especially is the case during the rain season from May to November. When you are planning your trip look at the website of COCHERA ANDINA. They give you route information on road conditions, distances and travel time etc. You receive route information also for Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Use this information when planning your trip.
All the best!
