em2307 Emily Moore Post Count: 1 Msg: #1 67 days ago, September 24th 2009 | Hey eveyone :) | Iīm volunteering at the moment at a wildlife sanctuary in Bolivia, about 3 hours from Cochabamba, 5 hours from Santa Cruz, in Villa Tunari. Itīs called Parque Machia and itīs part of the Inti Wara Yassi group. The Park is home to mostly a variety of Monkeys including Capuchins, Spider Monkeys and Squirrel Monkeys, as well as some Big cats, birds and other various animals. We are in desperate need of volunteers a the moment, working with about 25 when we could really use about 50. The work is tiring and we have long hours but itīs an amazing experience to work so closely with such incredible animals. Anyone who can come and donate some of their time will be very much appreciated, especially in the coming weeks. A minimum of 2 weeks is asked for because there is a bit of training needed at the start, but the longer you stay the more you and the animals get out of it. I am definitely interested in volunteering, but don't really have a trip itinerary as to when I would be in Bolivia. I fly into Peru on Wednesday and probably would be in Bolivia in the middle of October. I speak conversational level spanish and also have a degree in biology (along with research on monkey/bird/fish biodiversity), but with an emphasis on cellular biology.
