Muno Sally Evers & Nick Griffith Post Count: 87 Msg: #1 15 weeks ago, September 23rd 2009 | Only got 2 weeks to fit in as much aas possible. | No time needed in BKK as have been before. Priority is seeing Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh, Cu Chi Tunnels, HCM City and a good beach somewhere in between for a bit of R&R and maybe some diving. Any suggestions appreciated - happy to travel overnight buses/trains etc and will be taking a flight back to BKK rom HCM at the end to maximise time/minimise travelling. Also can visas be issued at border crossings Thailand-Cambodia, Cambodia-Vietnam? Many thanks Nick PA Leslie Pierre-Alexandre Post Count: 882 Msg: #2 15 weeks ago, September 23rd 2009 | Hi, | If you are on a short time, this is what I would do...BKK-PP, fly with Air Asia. Visit in PP the usual top three....S21, National Museum, Silver Pagoda....one day for all of it is enough. Either fly, around 50-75usd to Angkor, or take the bus...it's around 6 hours and less than 15usd. You can than take a bus to Saigon, but would have to go back to PP...If you can afford, fly, I know it's around 150usd...but it save you a hell of a time. In Saigon, Cuchi can be done in one day, the best is to organise it with one of the backpacker agency in the backpacker area...it's around 10usd for a full day. Diving...when do you go...this is THE question! Nha Trang is less than good. But if you go after november, you've got a new liveaboard leving out of Sianoukhville....I heard from a divemaster who worked on it the following. Around 270usd per person for 2 nights, 8 dives, so this include food, dive, boat...not a bad deal. What do you see, seems to be mainly macro. No other good diving in Cambodia or Vietnam. But after November, Similan is opening again...it's all depend when you go. i've got blog entries on few of the places you are looking for...live in Bangkok, was yesterday in Saigon....currently in RDC...Africa! hope this help, Peter Muno Sally Evers & Nick Griffith Post Count: 87 Msg: #3 15 weeks ago, September 23rd 2009 | hi | many thanks for quick response arrive BKK 31 oct and depart BKK 14 Nov hadn't thought of flying to BKK-PP straight away but makes sense if nothing in between - will look into it. Thanks PA Leslie Pierre-Alexandre Post Count: 882 Msg: #4 15 weeks ago, September 23rd 2009 | Hi, | You could do either BKK, siem-reap flying...and than bus to PP and bus to Saigon. Or BKK-PP, bus to Siem Reap, and flight to Saigon. Flights between BKK and Siem Reap are often very expensive, but just check on internet, you could find a nice difference. From BKK to Siem Reap, it's Bangkok Airways. Peter Muno Sally Evers & Nick Griffith Post Count: 87 Msg: #5 15 days ago, December 22nd 2009 | Hi Peter | Meant to post the link to our blog. We went BKK to Siem Reap by bus/taxi which was a pretty easy journey. Decided to leave Vietnam for another day and stayed in Cambodia. Flew back from PP to BKK which was very cheap and easy too. Great place in Cambodia - Lazy Beach - diving not so great so didn't bother. Thanks again for the advice Nick Whistle Stop Tour of Cambodia [Edited: 20:04 - Muno ] PA Leslie Pierre-Alexandre Post Count: 882 Msg: #6 15 days ago, December 23rd 2009 | Hi Nick, | For the diving, it seems they have a new liveaboard which is pretty cheap and go out there...it's a week-end stuff. On my list, sometime, we'll see. Heading to Havelock in a few days...more diving. Merry Christmas Peter Number of Users: 2 | Number of Posts: 6 | ||||||||||||||
