Is it ok to wear camouflage shorts throughout central and south america? | Thanks Mell Mell Post Count: 15362 Msg: #2 16 weeks ago, September 10th 2009 | Maybe you would be mistaken for the army, which would scare people, especially in Indian villages where the army have done brutal things to them. | I personally would avoid wearing anything whiile travelling, which could cause me to be mistaken for millitary or police. If a lot of backpackers are wearing them, then maybe people are used to seeing them and dont always associate them with the army. I wouldnt want to be the only backpacker in an Indian village wearing combat gear though.... | When I was in Iran I met an Australian guy. For his first few days in Iran he wore combat trousers and a kaki coloured T-shirt. The locals kept moving away from him and his friend and were unwilling to talk with them. When he changed his clothes, that all changed.
