Advice on transport and weather
I'm travelling to Costa Rica for the first time at the end of September for 2 weeks. I would really appreciate some advice on how to get between places and whether the rain is really bad this time of the year.

I only have 14 full days in Costa Rica. The plan is to head straight to La Fortuna and explore the Arenal area for a couple of days and then head to Santa Elena/Monteverde (doing the Jeep Boat Jeep). After that I'd like to move onwards to the North West coast (Tamarindo, Avellana, Playa Hermosa etc). From here I'm unsure as I have no idea how easy is to get between places or or how long it takes. The options are:
* Head south to Montezuma and around
* Head even further south to Corocovado
* Head to the Caribbean coast (South East, Puerto Limon or there-abouts)....this is the first choice
* Head to welcome!!
Any advice on what to do/not to do, time and ease of transport between places and the weather will be greatly apprecited! Thanks!

Arenal is fun when it is active, jeep/boat/jeep is best way to get to Monteverde, but once you have seen the 2 preserves there, not much to do. I would skip Tamarindo, and head further down the Nicoya. Tamarindo is a cesspool. Forget Limon, too far to do in 2 weeks, plus this time of the year it is like a swamp. Dryest place now is Guanacaste.....NW corner. Beaches are a little expensive.(Coco, Hermosa...etc) But La Cruz up near the Nic border is fairly reasonable. If you are up that way cross into Nic and go to Granada.....it is how CR was about 15 yrs ago....cheap!! Reply to this
