Incorrect passport number

Incorrect passport numbers on flight confirmation sheet

Hi,

Just a general query about passport numbers when making an online booking. I recently booked a flight with airasia from malaysia to vietnam but my passport number was incorrect and my friend has recently had to purchase a new passport as he lost his old one. Will this make any difference when checking in? Just checking as I dnt fancy having trouble when im trying too check in as were on a tight schedule.

Yes, passport number is important. Sometimes the passport is all they ask for at the airport to check you in. The passport number has to match the one of the person booked on the flight.

So am I best ringing up Airasia and asking them if they can change it for me. Will they charge me for doing this or not?

Hi James,

I have fly quite often lately with airasia. You should not be worry. What you need to make sure is your name is put properly, not your passport number. If you do look on the booking site, putting your passport is only an "information"and it's not compulsory. If your name, date of birth match, and you need to have the credit card you use to pay for the flight, you should be safe and no worries.
