Looking for an alternative to Munich to take in the Oktoberfest festivities, while on a short getaway to Southern Germany.
We are leaving the states on the 3rd of Octoberfest for a 10 day get away to Southern Germany, Switzerland and Northern Italy. We are looking for a great Oktoberfest celebration other than Munich to celebrate my husbands 40th Birthday. Any other insight on must sees while on our short get away would be very helpful.

Reply to this Hello Julie 😊
There are often tents in towns, suburbs and villages here in the South of Germany during the Oktoberfest where beer and Oktoberfest type food is served. Exactly where to find one I dont know though. And I am not sure that they would all be there all through the Oktoberfest dates.

Reply to this I also remember there being what was accused of being a copy cat beer festival in Hamburg when I was living there. I dont know if that happens every year or not.
Reply to this Thanks Mell. I think we are going to play it by ear. Do you know anything about the Stuttgart beer festival? That is close to where we are planning to be and runs until the 11th. Just wondering if you know anything......cant find much info about it.

I dont, because I have only been in Stuttgard once, and it was in April. But looks like Roland can help. 😊
Reply to this Stuttgarts bierfest is great. In fact bette than Munich which is overrated
Reply to this Yeah, I think the Munich one is past its best. I suppose it was once a cosy end of harvest celebration, instead of the overpriced, overcrowed scene it is now. And the drink up quickly and buy more attitude of the weizen staff has to get annoying. It is the same in the cafes and restaruants of the most popular tourist area in Munich. It is something I heartily dislike about Munich. Beautiful city though........
Reply to this Thank you all for your insight. We are planning on going to Stuttgart beerfestival. So looking forward to our trip to Germany!!!!
