discochic Eve Kelly Post Count: 5 Msg: #1 141 days ago, July 20th 2009 | Hi All, | First time putting up a post and just at the beginning of planning our trip...have been reading through a good few posts and still have a burning question on which country to start in and what route to take from there? We have not decided on any specific countries yet so any suggestions are very welcome. We intend on starting our trip in February and want to follow a route that gives us the best weather. Trekking isnt very high on our agenda, so will most likely aim to stay in warmer climates and hope to see some great coast lines along the way. Any ideas? Thanks! A great thing about travelblog is that it gives inspiration of where to go and what to do. We would suggest that you have a good browse around other people's blogs, to give you some idea of where you want to go. I remember how exciting and overwhelming it was when we decided to see the World. So many places to go, so many ideas. We bought a map of the World, put it on the wall and stuck pins it in to decide on where to go. It was supposed to give us an idea of a route, but in fact it became a map of pins! I can see that you are still in that very early stage of planning, when you have a whole World to visit and you don't know where to go. It's really hard for us to give you ideas of where to go at the moment. Everyone has their favourite continents/countries/cities/places to go. There are a lot of warm climates and a lot of great coastlines. Without knowing anything about you, it's hard to target advice. Are you planning a round the world trip, or just to visit a certain continent? How long have you got? How much money are you planning on spending? What are your 'must sees'? Have you looked at the Travel Blog Guide to Independent travel ? It might be a good place to start. There are also some good books like Rough Guide's First time around the World which might give you some initial information. Hope this helps and have fun planning! Bolivia - La paz and the bolivian amazon Brazil - rio carnival and amazon Eqador - quito Mexico Peru - machu picchu amazon, surfing?? Venezuela - angel falls Cheers sarah discochic Eve Kelly Post Count: 5 Msg: #4 140 days ago, July 21st 2009 | Hi Kate, | Thanks for your advice, we think we know roughly where we want to go...we like the sound of Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, maybe Brazil if we can afford it...basically the mid to northern end of SA. We're thinking 6 months starting in Feb and have about £5000 each for the trip. What we want to do is get an understanding of what the weather in these countries will be like between Feb - Aug to avoid any rain and cold! (can you tell we're sick of the British weather!?!? haha) In addition to wanting to plan our trip around the best weather, we could also do with some advice on the cheapest & logical way to see these countries...where to start, where to go next etc... I know its alot of questions and yes we're still very early into our planning but any advice would be great. Thanks again! Yes it is difficult to know when is the best time to visit each country. I'm guessing you will experience different weather conditions to us as we are going 5-6 months after you. | Rat on the Road Kris and Kate Post Count: 439 Msg: #6 139 days ago, July 22nd 2009 | Hey | There is a rough guide to South and Central America. Im new to travelblog as well but have found it really useful even in the early stages of planning! Like yourself it all seems a bit overwhelming when you start to plan a trip because there are so many countries/places and sights to see you dont know where to start!! I found it useful to just look through peoples photos becasue even though you are not looking at anywhere specific you will find your self more intrigued by certain pictures- for example looking at pictures of ecuador- Galapagos islands etc really inspired me!! Then you will get a better idea of your ''route'' and can plan where to go at what point to follow the sun! Good Luck!!xx Ali Ali Watters Post Count: 3880 Msg: #9 128 days ago, August 2nd 2009 | Hey Eve - if you're travelling a tropical / equatorial route - then you only need to avoid the monsoons/rainy seasons. | It might be a bit of work - but - wikipedia has all the information you need :) - eg for Galapagos - Wikipedia Even with that in mind - the rainy season in many places - involves a thunderstorm for a few hours and then bright sunshine - so not that bad at all.
