Hi all,
It is my 3rd day in Germany, Dortmund. I want to travel to dusseldorf and to other cities of germany, pl. guide me the cheap way. I just checked the train for this return tour (dortmund to dusseldorf) it costs me 40 Euros, is it good or i need some card etc to get discount?
Like I was in london last year and with Oyster card (costs 15 pounds) valid for two weeks, I was able to travel to lot of places either by bus or tube, not sure what is best way in Germany?
Also help me, I want to visit Paris, Amsterdam, what is the good way for this journey?
I'll be traveling only on weekends, really looking for some good help, thanks.

Use local public transport tickets between Dortmund and Düsseldorf.
See http://www.vrr.de

The far distance trains are expensive for such short hops, as DB wants to keep out the commuters from these trains.

To Amsterdam and Paris you can get special discounted tickets if you book in advance from DB. This can be done earliest 89 days from departure.

Hello Hira

You could also try www.condor.com for cheap flights.

mitfahrzentrale finds paying passangers for people making car journey. The prices are pretty good.

Hello Hira

It is possible to get an over night train ticket from Germany to Paris for 29 Euros in the seat car or one for around 49 Euros in the sleeper car. These prices include taxes. Try buying them a few months in advance on the internet. They are on the night trains. www.db.de
