Hey,

thanks for the responses i have pretty much decided on a route; starting in milan, lake garda, venice, cinque terre, florence, pisa, rome, naples, sorrento, pompeii then calabria.

I've been reading other blogs and a lot of people seem to comment on either avoiding naples or it being a risky place to go. Is this something i should be concerned about and miss out naples all together??

Hello Amy

I personally enjoyed the 2 times I visited Naples. It is run down and crime ridden but it is still Italy so still exotic for me.

But, I suppose whether you should go there or not is a matter of opinion. Places like Rome and Venice are certainly safer as regards crime, have more tourist attractions and have more money to keep themselves in good condition.

If you do go to Naples, be aware of the tactics thieves use to distract and then rob you. And I wouldnt wander around after dark, especially alone. Take public transport during daylight hours, and avoid using taxis at any time.
