| Is his death something to celebrate or mourn? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mell Mell Post Count: 15170 Msg: #1 26 weeks ago, June 26th 2009 | As a protective parent, I couldnt help feeling that his death is good news because of the child abuse allegations against him. But, I suppose there are more child abusers who are still alive so it makes no real difference if one dies. | I am not a fan of his music, but it is still part of my teen years as far as I am concerned so nostalgia does come into how I feel about him dying. And he was an easy target - only he and the alleged victims knew the truth in these cases. | But I think that a man who lost his childhood due to enforced fame - might have some deep down psychological need to reclaim that loss in later life. With the spotlight of media attention focused on him - all his eccentricities are blown up to epic proportions... Was his life tragedy or monstrosity? - I'm not in a position to judge but hope it was the former.. Mell Mell Post Count: 15170 Msg: #3 26 weeks ago, June 26th 2009 | Was his life tragedy or monstrosity?![]() Does anyone reading this actually admire him, rather than feel pity or disgust for him? He did become rich and famous for a reason, afterall. ...never proven.![]() True, but I still would not hire somebody with such allegations against them as a babysitter. It is a difficult one to open my mind completely on. So, does anyone know yet if he committed suicide? It is a pity that somebody like he is, cant enjoy a life that is envied by so many. However, such a bright flame is too often extinguished early. | By the end of that decade, he reknown was for scandal and unless people were around in the 1980s, they will only recall this less memorable aspect of him. Yes, I did admire his musical talent immensely - he sung some amazing pop songs, revolutionised music videos and was the first superstar of the video era - but he was a troubled soul, and that is a sad thing. Mell Mell Post Count: 15170 Msg: #5 26 weeks ago, June 27th 2009 | First and foremost RIP to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Today is a sad day for the music world. I can still remember listening to the album Dangerous on tape. I hope that we can all remember him for the great musician that he was and not for the lonely man that he had become, portrayed so negatively by the public media. ![]() Quote from Miri [Edited: 10:39 - Mell ] Beth and Craig Elizabeth Christie Post Count: 37 Msg: #6 26 weeks ago, June 28th 2009 | The death of anyone something to celebrate? The description of this topic is tasteless and the topic itself wholly unrelated to travel. | Why is this posted to the homepage of travelblog? Poorly done travelblog. Sincerely, Elizabeth Christie Mell Mell Post Count: 15170 Msg: #7 26 weeks ago, June 28th 2009 | Hello Elizabeth | Maybe you are right. Just because he is famous, maybe it is no good reason to talk about him like this. I suppose famous people whom we have never met seem so distant from us, that we dont think of them as people with real lives like the rest of us. It doesnt have anything to do with travel, that is true. That is why it is posted in the Chat Forum. But, maybe death is such a serious subject that this thread should have been addressed as a celebration of Michael Jacksons life instead....... | I removed this topic from the Front page.
