Tomorrow will be the start of my staycation with my family. I will be traveling via 5 hour ride on the bus this evening and hopefully reach the old house early in the morning. I miss my mom's dishes...

I am having a staycation tomorrow, in Austria, for my birthday.

I live in Munich, Bavaria. We discovered, that the Bavaria day train pass will also allow us to go to Salzburg, Austria, so that is where we will celebrate my birthday.

I havent been in Salzburg for 21 years. Sometimes when I go back to a place after a long time, I dont recognise it as the same place as I was in so long ago. I had that experience in Marsailles, France. When I went back there after 18 years, it seemed almost like a place I had never been in before. Maybe, that is what Salzburg will be like tomorrow. My whole life is a staycation. Living in Costa Rica I am never at a loss for something to do within 3 hours of where I live. I have beach options including Black sand, gray sand, gold sand, white sand, pink sand, big surf, calm waters for swimming. I have Arenal, Poas, Irazu & Mirravalles volcanoes close at hand. Rain Forest, Tropical Dry Forest, Cloud Forest all close by.

I can go on forever with my options but to answer the question, YES! I Live for the Staycation

I think stay cation is the way forward for me now for awhile. I'm thinking of buying a lonely planet on Ireland and searching out all those hidden gems I dont know about. Hopefully the good weather keeps up! Reply to this

We just had a staycation for a week. Our 11 year old daughter went on a farm stay with her school, which left me and my boyfriend with the rare luxury of having the house to ourselves and going out for dinner as a couple twice. We had not been to a restaurant without at least one kid in tow, for 9 years. :) Reply to this

Mel, sounds absolutely wonderful. Glad you had this time.
Wow, 9 years is a long, long time not to have a date.

Let's hope the school sponsors a few more trip experiences for the kids.
