A quick Google search gives directions from KL and Singapore. | http://www.redangisland.com/map.htm This link gives some directions from Thailand. http://spicedivers.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=66&Itemid=59 I have taken the train from Bangkok to Hat Yai and bus/van rides too. From Hat Yai there are lots of different types of transportation going to Malaysia, perhaps you could get to Redang from there. I don't know for sure though. The train ride from Bangkok just to Hat Yai is over 13 hours long. If you take a train try to get a sleeper car. It is a not difficult to get a flight to Hat Yai or even some other cities in Malaysia and go from that city to the nearest airport to the island. All you need is time and money! In Bangkok go to a few travel agencies and see what they say about flights to Malaysia and connecting flights onward. Good luck. But by flights, it's very easy...Bangkok, KL and than on to Kota Bharu... You can find dirt cheap flights from BKK to KL. Be carefurl thought, if you fly on a none low-coast, the terminal in KL is different from the low cost terminal. You can do KL to Kota Bharu for less than 30usd return. Once in Kota Bharu, taxi to Kuala Besut, than boat to Perhentian. I would say the cheapest and most effective is Airasia from BKK to Kota Bharu. Will be there next month, so a lot more info on it. If you get the kids, I spoke to few people who do advise to stay on Besar, the big island instead of Kecil, more backpacker and more noisy at night. With family, fly would defenitively be way easier. While Perhantian kacil was full of tourist and i couldnt find any free guest house, and i paid for the only hotel there. I enjoyed Perhantian kacil more. you can try both, as they are very near from each other. Number of Users: 4 | Number of Posts: 4 | ||||||||||||
