need advice and feedback
N Posts: 2
I am going to be in guate for about 2 weeks from end of june to july. My friend and I were planning on taking the chicken bus from panajachel to tikal and back to guate city in 10 days. Is this possible? We were going to stop off along the way in various towns and was wondering if there's any one that is not too miss. The other possibility is to take the bus up to tikal taking more time and flying back to guate city on the day we fly back to US. I read something about minibuses and was also wondering how easy they are to find in the more remote towns through the middle of the country. Thanks for any advice/info!! Reply to this

I am in Antigua for two months studying spanish. Many of my classmates have take the trip you are planning. Tikal is a LONG way from Panachel. It is possible to take a chicken bus or a van. Chicken buses are great for a short trip, but they are very uncomfortable. There are many tour agencies in Panajachel that can set those up for you. But it is a long way and the roads are difficult. The only real way to get to stop in various places is to hire a driver, which might be your best bet. I am going to fly to Tikal for the weekend. It runs about 250$ roundtrip and there are hotels in Flores and in Tikal. Don't miss Antigua. Reply to this
