AlexXxa Kris SG Post Count: 2 Msg: #1 178 days ago, May 29th 2009 | Hi there, | I am going on my own to South Africa in July 2009 for two weeks. I am not sure if I should start my journey in Johannesburg or in Cape Town: should I take an organized travel package or should I use the Buzbus or any other transportation to travel? Please share your experiences with me ^^ Thank you! AlexXxA Igbochik Cynthia Post Count: 3 Msg: #2 177 days ago, May 31st 2009 | I would suggest going to Cape Town definitely, its beautiful. Also going to the Drakensburg Mountains if you can and possibly on a game drive. | faurec faure c Post Count: 26 Msg: #3 169 days ago, June 8th 2009 | I agree with Igbochick. Remember South Africa is a big country. Cape Town and Drakensberg cannot be mentioned in one breath if you only have 2 weeks. | Cape Town is the no.1 destination. Remember July is mid winter. It is also rain season in Cape Town, but not in rest of country. My suggestion, start in Cape Town. Join day tours. Fly to Jhb. Join tour to Kruger or Pilanesberg (normally 3 days) Next time, stay for longer than weeks. Stay on Long Street if you want to party. I stayed at Carnival Court. Do a wine tour in Stellenbosch. And of course things like Table Mountain, Robben Island...the usual tourist things. Renting a car from there you can drive along the Garden Route, see Jeffrey's Bay. I believe there is a surfing competition there sometime in July- so you might want to check that out and make sure you can find a hostel or camp. Or you could fly into Durban and drive down the Wild Coast into the Transkei- Port St Johns, Coffee Bay... Either way, end up in Port Elizabeth, see the Addo Elephant Park, drop off the car and fly out of there. http://www.coastingafrica.com/ That link has TONS of information. Good luck! Definitely come to Cape Town first (bring your winter woollies!!), and then make your way up the Garden Route to Port Elizabeth. I really think you will be too spread-out if you try to include Kruger in this trip - rather opt for any safari-type activities in the Addo area. Enjoy!! | Number of Users: 5 | Number of Posts: 5 | |||||||||||||
