Looking for help planning a trip to Victoria, Bc from Tucson or Denver.

I'm looking for help planning a trip from Tucson (or Denver) to Victoria, Bc. I'm new at traveling and don't really know what the best way to go about it is. Which mode of transportation would be cheapest? I'm guessing a bus? Maybe a ferry from Seattle? Travel dates are flexible but sometime this summer (June 3 - August 10) for about a 1 week period.

If you could point me in the direction of any recommended websites to find cheap tickets that would be great. And not just airline tickets. Also, are there any websites that allow me to enter flexible dates instead of exact days? Ideally someone will point me in the right direction or help me find a ticket. Funds are low and I'm hoping to keep it as cheap as possible.

Any advice or help is extremely appreciated! Thank you in advance! Reply to this

Hi Noe and Joey - Welcome to Travelblog!

There is only passenger ferry boat that takes you straight from Seattle to Victoria, it's the Victoria Clipper. It's more of a tourist boat and less one used for regular transportation, but it is quick (although pricey, and the scheldule is pretty rigid).

You can take a ferry from Anacortes, WA to Sidney, B.C or from Vancouver B.C to Victoria, but that would require you to get to either Anacortes or Vancouver first. Anacortes isn't the easiest place to get to on mass-transit. You could fly into Seattle, take a Amtrak train to Vancouver, and then the ferry over or fly directly into Vancouver and do the same thing. You'd need to look at airline prices and see which airport offers a cheaper fare.

Greyhound bus tickets straight to Victoria will take about 2 days and cost around $200.

Hello,

The only practical way would be to fly. If you only have a week you can't spend 4 days on miserable day/night bus trips. Flying to Seattle would be much cheaper than flying into Canada ( $300 vs $500 ). However you could fly straight to Victoria for the same price as Vancouver. Flying into Vancouver for $500 and taking a ferry to Victoria doesn't make any sense at all. By flying straight to Victoria there is no ferry, or posibly train and ferry costs from Seattle and is much faster. For the extra $200 flying straight into Victoria you would get some of it back on other savings and save much time. Taking the bus from Seattle to Victoria would be about eight hours total each way. Amtrak and ferry would be about the same time. You would lose a day or two of your week long vacation.

Flying to Seattle and taking the clipper might save you $100 each but there is the restrictive schedule to consider. Departure times are 7:30 AM, 8:30 AM and 3:15 PM. Reply to this

Hi Noe and Joey

You can check out www.seairseaplanes.com for special charter in the Pacific Northwest including dropping off or picking up in the U.S.A. They operate up to 12 scheduled flights daily from Downtown Vancouver Harbour to Nanaimo (Departure Bay) and up to 12 scheduled flights daily from Richmond (YVR) to Nanaimo (Departure Bay), as well as up to 8 scheduled flights daily from Richmond (YVR) to 6 of the major Southern Gulf Islands.

With that you can also experience world-class salmon and trout fishing, landing in secluded coves with white sand beaches or spending an afternoon on a secret lake north of Vancouver enjoying a gourmet picnic lunch.

Enjoy your stay... Reply to this
