I wanted to know if any of you had used services like this
Basically, from what I can tell, you can rent a room in someone's home for kinda cheap

Does anyone here have any experience with this website or related ones? What are your thoughts?

Hello Ari 😊

If anyone wants to see the link, you can send it to them via the private messaging system. We snip the links from the posts of new members to discourage spammers from gathering and using them.

I saw a post by somebody in the Other Travel Sites Forum about a site for renting a room in somebodies house for a night. You could look through the posts there and find it if you want. I will post it here if I come accross it.

Another thing to consider could be couchsurfers They specialise in hosting people who are visiting their area.

I remember my mother telling me about her trip to Europe over 30 years ago. The were looking for a place to stay when this woman from a balcony started to negotiate price with them to stay in her home. It was a cheep price that included breakfast and they took it. LOL Reply to this

Something like that happened to us, last time we were in Krakow, Poland around 9 years ago. It used to be a regular thing in the former Yugoslavia. That was how we got a lot of our accomodation there in those days.

I dont know how much it happens these days. Reply to this

I think the best word for that is to "bedspace" or "bedspacing". I already experience it when I was in Tokyo where I rent for a house that somebody lives in where you renting one of their room. Reply to this

We stayed in a couple's spare room in their apartment in Midtown NY. It was fine, a small room, cheap compared to other places in NY. Clean and they provided breakfast, we could come and go as we liked. We used the website www.airbnb.com It has places to stay in loads of places all around the world.Hope this helps. Reply to this

There's going to be a site coming soon, which specialises in cultural exchange, and will feature accomodation and hospitality by local people. They have an ethical travel motivation. Will post more as I find out. Reply to this
