Queenstown short term rentals

How easy is it to get a short term rental property in Queenstown for ski season?

We're planning to be in Queenstown for 2 months (July and August 2009) to snowboard at Coronet Peak/The Remarkables and given we are there for an extended period of time we figure it will be more economical to rent a flat (or room in a property) than pay for hostels/holiday accommodation for the whole time. Does anyone have any advice on how easy it is to arrange a short term let and how to go about it - e.g. which agencies to use or places to post ads. Reply to this

Hi Sarah and Joe,

Welcome to TravelBlog.

Trademe.co.nz is a popular site for accomodation searches.

Jealous of your trip - have a great time down south! Reply to this

Thanks Jo - good tip, although I don't think we can register to use the site as we're not NZ/Oz resident. Are you aware of any other good ways to track down short term lets in Queenstown? Reply to this

You can still do searches, and I think most of the rental ads have contact details at the bottom. I just checked a couple without logging in.

I think there's a couple of other similar (prob not quite as popular) sites, will have a look. A Google search will give you more info too. Reply to this

This one also had house-sit ads, another option - and even cheaper if you can get one ;-)

Are you currently in an apartment/house you can use in a house-swap? Reply to this
