Spending Christmas in Ko Samui for a few days then over to Ko Phan Yan for new year!

I want to find some decent but cheap beach huts for a few days over Chritsmas. I know I will have to book them in advance as its going to be busy. I then want to go over to Ko Phan Yan a few days before New Years Eve. Does anyone know any beach huts and any nice beaches to stay at ? Maybe prices etc.... I have tried to look for some but i cant seem to find any that would suit me.

Thanks Kirsty :D Reply to this

Hello Kirsty 😊

The cheap beach huts cant be prebooked. At least it is not advisable to do so. The bookings are rarely honoured and the deposits frequently/always go missing.

I stayed on Bo Phut beach on Ko Samui, in a place called Rasta Baby. It was the cheapest place on that beach and the huts cost 6 Euros for a double. That was 3 years ago. There are better priced ones on Koh Pha Ngan, so maybe that would be an alternative choice for you. I stayed in a double hut there that cost 3 Euros per night. Also 3 years ago.

The cheap huts dont even have a booking online option.

Yeah, Christmas and New Year will be busy on the islands. Also, prices of accomodation tend to up at those times. It may even be a better option to actually choose more expensive accomodation that you can book on the internet. You may end up having to pay more one way or another at that time of the year. We stayed at Magic Resort, Hat Lamai, Ko Samui for Christmas 2008. It was 700Bht (about 14 British pounds) a night. They were quite basic but OK. We stayed for 14 nights. There is several cheap supermarkets nearby, a large selection of cheap food (80p for a curry and rice) and loads of good, cheap bars. We booked it in advance on a website called "sawadee" or something like that. I'd probably recommend booking for only a few days and then hunting around while you're there for others. The pre-book price tends to be overpriced so you'll end up paying more than if you negotiated face to face in resort. Good luck! Reply to this

and its a full moon on new years eve - may see you there, but god knows what the prices will get hiked to...

Do you think its better to turn up around the 27th dec and agree a price for 7 days? Reply to this
