about Visa's and Passports

I have a few questions... Hypothetically, say I was in Colombia, heading to Ecuador, which doesnt require visas for a stay up to 90 days. Before I get to Ecuador, say I have a change of heart and want to go to Venezuala, which requires a visa for entry.
How would I obtain a Visaon such short notice? Where would I go to recieve one? Note that these countries are hypothetical as this could happen to me at any place during the RTW.
Also, Say during my trip my passport is close to expiring, how would I go about renewing it?

Can't really speak for the Visas, but for the Passport, I'd probably get it renewed before you leave. I would imagine it would be easier to take care of that in your home country than if you were travelling. Even if you're not leaving for a year, it would be an opportune time. If you're a US citizen, I know you can pay extra to expedite your request. Reply to this
