Hi,

Yes it's possible...if you fly, you have Auckland-Santiago on Lan Chile. You also have Auckland-Buenos Aires on Argentinas Aerolineas.

If you do one way flight, it will be expensive whatever you do...it may be cheaper to get a cheap return and dump the return leg.

There is one more alternative, fly to Papette, on Air New Zealand or Air Tahiti Niu, than connect one Lan which is doing Tahiti to Easter Ilsand and Easter Island to Santiago. It will be way more expensive though...but a lot more fun stops..the return ticket rules may still happen.

Not sure you may even find a boat to do these legs.

So first an cheapest rule, if you are lucky enough to have miles on Onewolrd to use. Or look for a cheap return ticket and forget the return.

Have fun,

Peter

Aerolineas is a terrible airline.I've always flown Lan from Australia and have no complaints but EVERYONE I know that has flown Aerolineas hated it.Successful Argentinians can be very arogant and this seems to be multiplied in the Airline industry. But with all that said I LOVE SOUTH AMERICA.My 2 favourite adventures ever are the boat from Nth Isle to Sth Isle in NZ (where you are) and Ushuaia Argentina (Where you're going).Lucky you
