Johnsiera James Johns Post Count: 1 Msg: #1 276 days ago, February 19th 2009 | I know that two weeks is pretty short, but my fiance and were thinking of places that would be exciting and fun. We were thinking of skiing/snowboarding for a few days in Mount Ruapehu, and then renting an RV or camper van, and crashing at parks and such. Possibly doing some pack packing (we're both pretty comfortable with a moderate amount of difficulty, 8-15miles a day of solid hiking or so). Any suggestions for loops we should take or specifically good places to hike? Also, does anyone know of any particular reason to stay away from Mount Ruapehu? The idea of skiing on a glacier covered volcano sounds fantastic to me. Looks like it will be operational by the time the ski season opens, but other than the chairlift there might not be much in the way of facilities.
