There is probably an overnight service from Bucharest as the train takes around 12 hours. You could drive it, but the roads are appalling - no motorway - it's all single carriageway and if you get stuck behind a slow farm truck (which is highly likely!) the drive can take around 14 hours...There are direct flights between Bucharest and Timisoara, but you do miss out on the scenery. I used the bus after all, paid 60 RON with Lututrans and it took almost 12 hours. I was quite satisfied. If anyone may add useful information on this topic, go for it.
