Moment Moment Johnson Post Count: 3 Msg: #1 351 days ago, December 6th 2008 | Hey, I\'m from the US and want to visit New Zealand for a year at the end end of \'09. I know I can easily stay for up to 3 months, but does anyone know how I can stay longer. Can I get a longer tourist visa (how)? Is it easier to get a work visa? Or can I fly to a nearby island every three months for a week and then come back to NZ for another 3 months? I\'d appreciate any information. Thanks | Moment Mell Mell Post Count: 13894 Msg: #2 351 days ago, December 6th 2008 | Hello Moment | I moved this to the Oceania forum. I also deleted your duplicate post because these forums are not busy enough to have duplicate posts. I can move this to the New to Independent Travel forum later, if it does not get enough replies in this forum. Of course, that requires your age to be between 18 and 30. The visa was to cost $100US (or something around there) but for some reason they didn't charge me for it. There are a few requirements for entry, ie...available funds of $5,000USD, health insurance, etc. (None of which I had to provide proof of despite the website saying I would.) I spent 2007 in New Zealand and was able to find work quite easily. Some people from the UK who had been there on the same scheme were able to renew their visas for long (6 months or a year, I'm not sure) but they had to get re-apply and get a medical. I assume this would be true for any working holiday maker that wanted to extend their stay. Message me if you have any other questions. New Zealand is a great place to experience.
