How do I get from Cambodia to the Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc?

Hi, I'm traveling to Vietnam and Cambodia over the winter holidays, and the plan is to:
land in HCMC, go by land to PP, then to Siem Reap, fly or travel back by land to HCMC and then fly to Phu Quoc (apparently, a beautiful little island). Now, on the map, it looks like Phu Quoc is really close to southern Cambodia. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if you can travel there via Cambodia -- like by ferry? It'd be way more fun to travel south in Cambodia, head to Phu Quoc and then fly back to HCMC from Phu Quoc... Thanks in advance for your help.

No way, I asked the same question and basically it is a non event. You could find someone to take you illegally but you would have no passport stamp or visa. Could be jail or worse a bullet. You have to go overland through the Border Crossing south of Kampot (Cambodia) then on to Rach Gia (Vietnam) where you can catch a boat or a plane to Phu Quoc.

I stood on the end of Phu Quoc Island and called a freind on Shihanoukville beach. So close but so far away.
